I love a good value for mid week. Murgo Etna Rosso won’t break the bank at 16.99 from wine.com and considering they are a major online retailer, the wine is also easy to obtain. Etna Rosso is the style of wine from the Etna region in Sicily. The vineyards are composed of volcanic soil near Mount Etna. Nerello Mascalese is the grape. So what can you expect out of a wine like this? A Pinot Noiresque type elegance that is food friendly and medium bodied.

I love that this bottle is only one of 5000 cases produced annually which is relatively small production. The farming practices are sustainable and the grapes were picked by hand. What does that tell me? Greater care in the operation and what ultimately goes into the bottle. I’m a realistic naturalist. I don’t wear very much makeup because I don’t want a ton of product all over my face. But I apply a very serious antiperspirant/deodorant daily because…. well I need it. I have the same philosophy with wine. In some conditions, sustainability/organic farming is feasible. If they can do it, I appreciate it. The less additives in the winemaking process, the better. And you will feel better too after sipping a minimal intervention wine.

So there you have it.. I just gave you license to try a funky grape varietal from a region that you may not have thought about before. It’s a crowd pleaser and at that very sweet spot of $15-20 per bottle. Cin cin!
