Cooking with kids - Thanksgiving Stuffing

Cooking with kids - Thanksgiving edition! Keep those kiddos busy while you prepare your festive meal... and check a few to-dos off your list! Stuffing is one of the tastiest, yet time consuming sides. Get out your veggie cutters, silicone knives, crinkle cutters... anything kid safe and put them to work. Below are a few ideas on how to incorporate them..

  1. All kiddos can cut or tear the bread (and apples) into small pieces.

  2. Have one of the toddlers “paint” the veggies with olive oil and basting brush that need to be sautéed. Brennan (pictured) was busy with this task for at least 20 minutes.

  3. Older kiddos aged 5+ can use a step stool and help tend to the sautéed veggies... I keep heat on low and explain kitchen safety first.

  4. Have any of the kiddos layer the bacon on a baking sheet before putting in the oven.

  5. Put one kid in charge of cracking the eggs that bind it all together.

  6. Practice math with kids aged 5+ by measuring each ingredient

  7. The best tip... let them snack on any ingredient! Quinn and Liam tasted raw onion, fennel, and apple!
