Recipe Name: Homemade Marinara Sauce

===========

  • prep time: 20 minutes
  • cook time: Simmer 10 minutes to 2 hours depending how much time you have
  • Servings: 4-6

    Ingredients:**
    • 1 large can Cento whole , peeled tomatoes
    • 1 small can tomato paste
    • 3 cloves garlic minced
    • 1/2 large white onion minced
    • 1 cup pancetta or 2 pieces bacon chopped up and cooked until crispy
  • Instructions:

    • Kids Prep: Assist in opening can of tomatoes, pouring ingredients into sauce pan, and crushing tomatoes with a masher before putting on the stove.
    • Adult Prep: Cook pancetta until crispy. In same pan, lower heat to almost simmer and very slowly cook garlic and onions until softened. Put all 3 ingredients into sauce pan. Add in tomato paste and supervise kid pouring in Cento tomatoes and mashing. Stir with wooden spoon and simmer sauce as long as your afternoon allows.
  • Wine Pairing: Sicilian Nerello Mascalese

  • Notes: I love eating this over Ancient Grains gluten free rotini. Can hold in refridgerator for about a week. I prefer Cento as a brand because it comes with basil already in the can. No refined sugars.
