Homemade Marinara Sauce
Recipe Name: Homemade Marinara Sauce
===========
- prep time: 20 minutes
- cook time: Simmer 10 minutes to 2 hours depending how much time you have
- Servings: 4-6
Ingredients:**
- 1 large can Cento whole , peeled tomatoes
- 1 small can tomato paste
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 large white onion minced
- 1 cup pancetta or 2 pieces bacon chopped up and cooked until crispy
Instructions:
- Kids Prep: Assist in opening can of tomatoes, pouring ingredients into sauce pan, and crushing tomatoes with a masher before putting on the stove.
- Adult Prep: Cook pancetta until crispy. In same pan, lower heat to almost simmer and very slowly cook garlic and onions until softened. Put all 3 ingredients into sauce pan. Add in tomato paste and supervise kid pouring in Cento tomatoes and mashing. Stir with wooden spoon and simmer sauce as long as your afternoon allows.
Wine Pairing: Sicilian Nerello Mascalese
- Notes: I love eating this over Ancient Grains gluten free rotini. Can hold in refridgerator for about a week. I prefer Cento as a brand because it comes with basil already in the can. No refined sugars.
