Picking out international wines can be incredibly intimidating. But it doesn’t have to be! I often advise friends and family to find a local wine shop that they like and ask the main steward to recommend one of their selections in the $15-25 range. You can also do this virtually now with plenty of online wine shops. In fact, wine.com prompted me with a pop up inquiry within seconds of entering their site. Chances are that steward in the shop or online specialist has tasted more wine than you could ever dream of and will steer you in the right direction based on your palate. Give some insight on what you like and what you don’t like in a wine. After tasting a few wines from France, Italy, Spain, etc… look at who the importer is on the back label and continue to seek wines from that company.

Right now I am loving Garber & Co. I stumbled upon this French red while dining at a local French style cafe, Maison in Dana Point. Now I’m just going to start buying direct from their online wine shop! I love that they represent ‘producers of integrity’. They care about who is growing the grapes, how they are growing the grapes, and how the wine is made. You can also buy their wines direct… click here. Domaine de Perillière is from the region of Costières de Nîmes in Southern France. This area is known for producing bright, juicy, medium bodied, slightly spicy wines that are primarily a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre. Cheers!
